One of the highlights of our convention is the Annual Awards Dinner. It is a time to celebrate the accomplish-ments and njadonadedication of nurses in long term care. We would like to share some of the comments from the nomination letters for the individuals that were honored at this years convention.

DON OF THE YEAR, HOURIG KARALIAN – Hourig’s knowledge is exceptional, she is caring, compas-sionate and has a love and respect for her residents, families and staff that is evident in every aspect of her job. The number of accolades and positive imprints she has placed on the Armenian Nursing and Rehab Center is a direct testament to her commitment to her profession while raising the capability of her staff and visibility of her home.

ADON OF THE YEAR, DIANE HOLZBERG – Diane has worked at the Bergen County Health Care Center for 26 years, working her way up to ADON. She has mastered position after position through hard work and true commitment to the residents and families that BCHCC serves. She knows every resident by name and treats them and their needs as if they were her own family.

RN SUPERVISOR OF THE YEAR, DEBORAH DOHN – Debbie has been a part of the team at St. Mary’s Center for Rehab and Healthcare since 1998. She has that “Old School” work ethic. Debbie has had perfect attendance every year, reports early for her shift and often stays late. She comes prepared to stay during bad weather and covers holidays or changes weekends so other staff members can be off. She does everything with grace and humor. She is motivated, bright, caring and congenial.

RN OF THE YEAR, JUDI A. DUDLEY – Judi has dedicated her professional career to caring for the elderly. She is a skilled nurse and has shown the “ins and outs” of being a confident caring nurse. She provides the residents with a feeling of safety in a loving environment. She has a generous nature toward the staff and residents at St. Mary’s. Her kindness is evident in all of her actions.
RN SPECIALTY, KAREN CUMELLO – Karen has been the Staff Development and Employee Health Coordi-nator at Bridgeway Care Center for the past four years. Karen’s specialized nursing knowledge, commitment to the field of geriatrics and desire to provide a smooth onboarding experience for all new staff is evident from the first. Her drive, perseverance and commitment describe what make Karen such a special nurse and person.

LPN OF THE YEAR, DIERDER SMITH – Dierder has been employed by Pine Brook Care Center since 2008. She shows exemplary skills along with being kind and considerate to residents, fellow staff members and families. Dierder is will respected, has great leadership skills and is a true asset to the nursing profession.

CNA OF THE YEAR, MIRIAM ROSADO – Miriam has been a CNA for 28 years. She is a dedicated, respect-ed, motivated and caring individual. As head of the CNAs at Rose Garden Nursing & Rehab Center, Miriam ensures that outstanding resident care is achieved. She is dependable, hard working, kind and compassion-ate.

CNA OF THE YEAR, TONETTE JEFFCOAT – Tonette has been at the Voorhees Center Genesis Healthcare for 22 years. She is passionate and dedicated to her job in caring for our elderly through recreational activi-ties. She brings a smile, feeling of calmness, serenity and contentment to the residents.
